Schedule of Fees and Related Expenses
Athomax Solutions (Pty) Ltd, trading as Lex Protect in its Legal Department, charges fees based on the fair market value of the services rendered. Our services are primarily focused on non-litigious matters, ensuring cost-effective solutions for our clients.
Fees
Chairing a Disciplinary Hearing: Fixed hourly rate for seven hours or part thereof.
Outcome Fee: Varies according to the qualification and experience of the legal professional.
Clients will be notified of the fees before a legal professional starts with a disciplinary inquiry.
Terms and Conditions of Fees and Expenses:
Fees: Daily rate quoted for 7-hours or part thereof. Overtime beyond 7 hours or additional days are charged at 50% of the hourly rate.
Expenses: Daily fees exclude expenses such as accommodation, meals, and travel costs. These will be estimated and arranged by the company, with payments required five days before the hearing if the matter is scheduled for more than a day at a distant venue.
Invoices: Lex Protect invoices will be issued as proceedings progress.
Advance Payment: Hearing fees and estimated expenses are payable five working days in advance of the hearing/inquiry/conciliation/arbitration or mediation.
Final Balancing Invoice: A final invoice or credit note will be issued and payable before the outcome is sent to the client, or as agreed.
Payment Terms: Invoices issued during proceedings must be paid within five days of receipt. Overdue amounts will incur interest at 15% per annum
Cancellation/Postponement Charges
Within Ten Days: 50% of agreed fees payable for cancellations/postponements made within ten working days of the inquiry date (excluding weekends and public holidays).
Within 48 Hours: Full agreed fees payable for cancellations/postponements made within 48 hours of the inquiry date (excluding weekends and public holidays).
Expenses: All incurred expenses and overtime costs will be payable in full.
Non-Payment: Lex Protect may cancel proceedings or hearings if payments are not made as per terms and conditions, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon.
Rates for Non-Litigious Matters
Non-litigious matters do not require court proceedings. Our fees are based on the legal professional's experience, area of expertise, and type of client.
Rates
1–2 years of experience: R1 250 per hour
3–5 years of experience: R1 630 per hour
5–10 years of experience: R2 100 per hour
10–15 years of experience: R2 590 per hour
15–20 years of experience: R3 355 per hour
20+ years of experience: R4 500 per hour
Fees are negotiable based on the size of the company (Strict)

AA Rate
The
prescribed rate of R4.84 per kilometer is charged for traveling.
Fees on Accommodation
Accommodation rates are based on current charges by hotels, guesthouses, and resorts. These fees and expenses are reviewed yearly in line with inflation.
